Inspiral Carpets roadie Noel Gallagher teamed up with his younger brother Liam Gallagher and his bandmates Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll in 1991.
After a year of concerts, rehearsals and a demo they were spotted by Alan McGee’s Creation Records whom they eventually signed to after securing a worldwide deal with Sony.
After releasing there hugely successful debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ they would enjoy a rivalry with their peers Blur for the next few years whilst releasing mega selling albums ‘What’s the Story Morning Glory and ‘Be Here Now’ featuring slide guitar by Johnny Depp.
In 1996 they performed a series of headlining outdoor concerts and returned to their home of Manchester and performed at Main Road, the then home of Manchester City Football Club, this was followed up by concerts at Balloch Country Park by Loch Lomond before the spectacularly successful back-to-back concerts at Knebworth House.
Concert memorabilia from the 1990’s for Oasis is very desirable and in particular concert posters, promo items, signed items, instruments, props, handwritten lyrics, documents, clothing and anything unusual that is related to Oasis and The Gallagher brothers Noel & Liam.
Whilst Oasis stood at the forefront of the mid 1990’s British musical genre ‘Britpop’, they were ably supported by the likes of Blur, Pulp and Suede.
Drawing on 1960’s British music, 1970’s Glam Rock and the previous generations instigators Joy Division and The Smiths, not forgetting The Stones Roses of Madchester, it was deemed anything was possible again.
Britpop’s star dimmed in the late 1990’s as more progressive bands like Radiohead began to dominate the airwaves.
